Pixel Hostel Phuket Airport

That 7/11 next door came in handy for water and snacks late at night. My wife and I landed in Phuket at 00:30 after almost two hours at what felt like the slowest immigration check ever. I called to confirm we'd arrived, and a car was sent for us within five minutes. Check-in was quick and easy. The room was clean and had what we needed for one night. We arranged a 10:00 pickup, and it was nice to have a 12:00 checkout available if needed.

The place was clean, but the staff got the checkout time badly mixed up because of the AM and PM confusion. Our flight was rescheduled, so we checked in at 3am and told the guy our flight was at 2am the next morning. He said checkout was at 12am. Since I'd never been allowed to check out at midnight before, I asked three times to make sure he meant AM and not PM, and he said yes. At 1pm the next day, they told us to leave or pay extra. I explained what we'd been told, but they still thought 12am meant afternoon instead of midnight. They asked for 800 baht. When I handed it over, they changed the amount to 1,000 baht. It wasn't a big increase, but I stopped them and made sure they understood they'd quoted 800. In the end, they gave me my change.

I loved Phuket and the people I met there, but this was the one experience I could've done without. We needed somewhere for the night after 3am, before our flight, and the airport information desk called Phuket Airport Inn for us. We were quoted 1,000 baht, but on arrival they asked for 1,200. We were exhausted and wanted a shower, so we paid the extra 200. We also asked to check out at 3pm because our flight wasn't until 6:30pm. The man asked the woman beside him, who seemed to be the owner or manager, and we were told 3pm was okay. Then just after 12pm, the employee from the night before knocked and told us to leave. Even after we reminded him that both he and the woman had agreed to a 3pm checkout, he kept insisting we leave right away or pay another 500 baht to stay until 3. I'm upset about being asked for more money again and again and having them go back on their word, not about the amount itself. This was the worst experience I had in Phuket. I'd give the place half a star, or no stars if I could still post.

Handy spot, about a 10-15 minute walk from the airport. There's a 7 eleven and Tesco Lotus next door, with lots of local street food around too. I can't really judge the price or the room condition.
