Suite C416 at 6th Avenue Surin Residence

Five stars for the construction noise, zero for pretty much everything else. 😡 We arrived with our three kids and immediately wondered if we’d booked a demolition site. There was nonstop construction all weekend, and nobody had mentioned it beforehand. So much for a quiet holiday. The building feels old and like it’s falling apart, and the price feels like a scam. The apartment is full of dated stuff: the AC units sound like jet engines, the toaster and fridge seem prehistoric, and the mattress was badly stained. The balcony was covered in dust and sand. There was a tiny old hair dryer and only one towel per person, so bring your own, apparently. Reception was a joke. Nobody gave us the Wi-Fi details, so I had to track someone down. The password only worked if you sat right by the router. The kids complained the whole time, since apparently internet access is optional here. There’s not much to eat nearby apart from places by construction sites. Save your money and sanity unless endless noise, sleepless nights and antique appliances are your idea of a holiday.

The rooms are large for what we’re paying, and the location is prime. It’s old, though, and the AC units are dirty, but still decent overall for a reasonable price. There’s a rooftop restaurant, but it closes strangely early, so dinner there isn’t an option. As for service, there isn’t much to say.

The pool has a nice ocean view, and breakfast was good. The location is handy, about 900 m from the beach, with a 7 eleven around a 10-minute walk away. The rooms could be kept better. They weren’t very clean, and there were holes in the bedsheets and curtains.

I stayed at 6th Avenue Surin Condominium from September 18 to October 4, 2025, while on vacation in Phuket. The facilities were fairly comfortable and the location was convenient, but I was disappointed by how some staff treated guests. The kitchen waitress brought out food each time I ate there without a greeting or a smile, just setting it on the table silently. Housekeeping staff also came across as unfriendly. They didn’t greet or smile when I passed, often avoided eye contact, and at times I felt as if they were quietly laughing at me. It made me uncomfortable. I hope management gives staff more training in basic hospitality and friendliness. A simple greeting or smile can make a big difference to a guest’s experience.
