Baan Rare Guesthouse

The owner was really lovely, and you can rent a bicycle cheaply to explore town. I slept well in the small, narrow room, which still felt cozy. There are lots of plants and the hostel is tucked away in an alley, so it’s peaceful and green. The wooden furnishings also gave the place an eco-friendly feel. I really like this hostel.

The wooden, traditional Thai decor is beautiful, and the air conditioning works well. There’s a good coffee shop just outside, plus free WiFi. But the place is right beside the main road, so it gets noisy. There are no screen doors, which meant either leaving the room open or keeping it shut. We killed about 20 mosquitoes when we arrived. They had spray and lotion in the room, but I still couldn’t sleep without tucking the blanket tightly around me.

Rirk is a lovely owner, and Baan Rare is the nicest guesthouse I’ve stayed at anywhere in Thailand. It’s clean and quiet, with good air conditioning and WiFi. The mattresses are just right, and the towels are fluffy and white. There’s nice soap and shampoo, a hot water shower, and a shared fridge, stove, microwave, plates, and cutlery. A lady next door does same-day laundry for 30 baht. You can rent bikes, and 7/11 and Tesco are close by. There’s usually a Tuk Tuk nearby, and it costs 80 baht to Central Plaza Mall and UD Town food markets. Definitely on my list to return.

I stayed here often in the past, but getting to Central Plaza isn’t easy by transport. The shared bathroom and shower are the main inconvenience. It suits people who are comfortable with a hostel or guesthouse style of stay.
