Jungle View Homestay

We came by for a late lunch after a friend suggested it, and I was pleasantly surprised. The resort and restaurant are in Wang Nam kiao, a bit off the beaten track, so it wasn’t too busy. There’s Thai food along with German and Italian dishes. I enjoyed the bratwurst with rosti and the schnitzel salad, both a welcome change from eating Thai food every day. The pizza had a good crisp base, though I found the sauce a little sweet. The German food was good for a place out here in Thailand. They also have a nice selection of imported beer. It’s pricey by local standards, but about what I’d expect to pay in Australia. I’ll come back when I’m craving German food.

The rooms are basic but nice and well kept, and each one looks out toward the adjacent national park. The food was all really good and reasonably priced, with German favorites, pizza, and Thai dishes. It draws local Thais and domestic travelers, along with the occasional farang.

Each morning we woke to birdsong and loads of butterflies in the postcard pretty gardens. The family at Jungle View resort treated us wonderfully during our visit to beautiful Wang Nam Khiao. Their staff were friendly and welcoming, which made the place feel special and a lovely spot to escape and relax. The Issan and European food was sublime, and they serve top quality German beers. We really enjoyed our stay.

I’ve been here three times now and keep coming back when I’m in the area. The Thai and western food is great, and the restaurant has the best views around. Don’t miss a visit. On a later visit, though, I ordered bratwurst again and asked for it to be cooked more than last time, when it was pale and barely cooked. This time it came out pale and, to me, still undercooked. I love this restaurant, but if they can’t cook bratwurst the way a customer asks, they shouldn’t sell it. Also, one bratwurst isn’t enough for a man, so I have to order two.
