Moon River Village

The garden is beautifully cared for, and the hotel has an Italian countryside design with lots of lovely photo spots. The atmosphere and views are fantastic, though it’s about 1 km off the main road. The road in is quite rough, but a small car can manage it. There’s a good range of facilities, including a sauna, gym, onsen, swimming pool, and a playground for kids. We enjoyed the restaurant food, and breakfast was good with enough to fill you up. Just check what comes with your chosen set, since one option only includes bread, a croissant, and yam. That may explain why some reviews say the breakfast portions are small.

We arrived at 8 pm, when everything was closed, and hadn’t eaten dinner. There were some mini bar snacks in our room for the two of us, including a cup of noodles and a little bit of nuts. When we asked for another cup of noodles, the staff member said they’d check, but it got a bit complicated, so in the end we shared one cup. :) The restaurant staff were very friendly in the morning. Special thanks to receptionist Khun Fern for the excellent service and for helping us reserve a car to the center. She took good care of us, and the rest of the stay was excellent.

Finding a dirty towel in my room was unpleasant and left me feeling like cleanliness wasn’t a priority. The service also fell short, especially at meals. Dinner took an unusually long time to arrive, staff were slow to respond to requests, and the service at both meals was disappointing. I also didn’t think the breakfast was worth the extra charge. The resort’s location has potential, but these problems seriously affected my stay. I hope they take the feedback seriously and make improvements for future guests.

The restaurant shuts at 8 pm, and with only a few 711s in Khaoyai, there’s nowhere nearby to walk for a midnight snack. You need to take food out from the restaurant in advance. Still, this place gave me a dreamy little cottage fairytale stay for a few days. Blue windows, flower vines, cobblestone paths, lotus ponds, an Orange building, and a poolside view made me almost forget I was in Thailand instead of the French countryside. A lovely quiet escape, though the location is bad.
