The grounds are a nice place to wander. In about a 10-minute walk, you can get to statues, monuments, buildings, a ferris wheel, and a theatre. Inside, the lobby and ground floor are huge, with trees and water that make it feel like an indoor oasis. There’s a sitting area, plus a restaurant and bar. Step out by the bar and you’ll find a garden, a pool, and tennis courts, with peacocks and chickens around the grounds and in larger enclosures. Dinner and breakfast were both pretty good. The fish plov was a regional specialty, and seafood seemed unusual here. Breakfast was generous, and I was glad to see pancakes. The room and bathroom were spacious. The room looked a bit dated but was fine, and the bathroom was clean, though I found a cigarette by the flush buttons despite the room being marked non-smoking. The air conditioner was old and awkwardly placed by the window. When it was on, I couldn’t close the curtains, so keeping morning light out was a problem.

The location worked well, with attractions nearby, and breakfast was decent. We stayed one night. The room was dated but okay. There’s no lift, so you have to carry your own luggage upstairs, and the hotel staff didn’t help.

Peacocks and guinea fowl roam around the large, park-like grounds. You eat beneath the atrium dome, and the food was okay. The kettle had no tea or coffee with it, so bring your own, along with body lotion or hair conditioner if you use those. There’s a safe, but mine was locked and unusable. I missed the refrigerator at first because it’s under the refrigerator. The TV had no English-language stations. WiFi was good enough for the occasional email, but I couldn’t get anything else to work. On Saturday night a DJ played music loudly until late. It didn’t bother me, but many people in my group were annoyed and couldn’t sleep.

With some remodeling, the rooms could make this a nice Crowne Plaza-style option for a mid-sized Midwestern city. As things stood, they were acceptable for the developing world, though not luxurious. The lobby is nice, and it’s probably the best hotel in town. (Sept, 2015)

The peacocks wandering freely around the grounds were lovely. I really liked the hotel, but the WiFi and breakfast were the letdowns.
