Seabel Aladin Djerba Hotel

The animation team brought so much joy and energy to my stay. Mr. Mamadou, Léo and Mr. Badis made the vacation colorful and full of memories. They felt like the soul of the hotel, and when I was around them, I could forget the other problems. I used to love this place, its atmosphere and energy, so it’s disappointing that the rest of the experience changed how I see it. At lunch, the restaurant was poorly organized, and even getting a glass meant standing in line. There were ants in the room too, which seems unacceptable for a 4-star hotel at this price. The reception experience was cold from the start. The receptionist barely acknowledged me and said I had no reservation, even after I showed my voucher. Maybe she judged me for being a backpacker who didn’t “look luxurious.” I got no welcome, smile, or information about meal times or hotel services, just a key and then she turned away. Checkout was the worst part. A girl with glasses at reception spoke to me in a way that felt actively disrespectful. As I left, the agent at the entrance stopped me and condescendingly asked, “Did you leave the key inside? Because when you leave a hotel, you’re supposed to.” I felt he assumed I was clueless because I was a backpacker. It was humiliating, like a slap in the face after enjoying most of my stay. I loved staying here in the past, but the behavior of just two people has completely changed my perception. I felt judged and mistreated, not just as a guest but as a person, and I can’t forget that. If it were only about the animation team, I’d return in a heartbeat. Unless reception staff improve their attitude and training, I won’t be back.

My wife needed a wheelchair to get around the large grounds, and this was the only hotel on our multi day tour where we had to rent one from the hotel. Luggage porter services weren’t available either. There were some odd practices at check-in: reception put a plastic strap on my wrist to show what level of service I was entitled to, without explaining why, then exchanged my passport for a room key. The food was mediocre, and some dishes were inedible.

The food was so good, and the service was spectacular. Every server, bartender, housekeeper, animator, and other hotel staff member was friendly and helpful. The location is about 40 mins from the airport, a standard short trip. It was a lovely, relaxed vacation. The rooms are simple and have what you need, though there’s no fridge. I’d recommend this hotel for a family or friends trip, it works for any kind of group.

The beach was so close it almost didn’t seem real, and even though we didn’t pay extra, our room had a sea view. There was plenty to do, the pools were beautiful, and the food was amazing. It was a very nice hotel. If you’re trying to decide whether to go, I couldn’t recommend it more. Go!
