Gérard is what makes this place so special as a host, but the whole hotel is a work of art. From the beautifully designed rooms to the library, kitchen, and breakfast nook, every shared space feels exquisite. The rooftop is an architect’s dream, and the hotel itself is a little oasis in central Djerba. Breakfast was the best I had in Tunisia: bsissa, fresh bread, lots of croissants, four homemade specialty marmalades, fresh orange juice, coffee, yogurt, cheese, and strawberries. Gérard is extraordinarily gracious, and I only wish I’d lingered longer each morning. I went out to see Djerbahood instead. Don’t miss this hotel, it’s world class.

Erriadh is a lovely base, right in a typical local neighborhood among Djerbahood’s wall art, little shops, and restaurants. The guesthouse combines two styles beautifully, an old Djerbian home and a more contemporary look. The roof has a breathtaking view, and the jasmines there are wonderfully rejuvenating. Gérard has clearly put a lot into honoring Djerba’s heritage, and he takes time to show guests around and explain the details. You can see his love for the island throughout the place. The men and women on his team also deserve a special thank you for keeping it clean and authentic. Everyone was accommodating and happily helped with requests like extra pillows. Breakfast was a highlight too, with locally made jams, different cutlery each day, and a different kind of eggs so it never got boring. A memorable, intimate stay, highly recommended.

The people were the best part for us. The owner and staff were so welcoming that we felt at home with family, and we’d happily return if we get to visit Djerba again. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was a treat every day, with a different dish, plates, cups, and presentation. My favorite was the French toast with brown sugar, just delicious. I should’ve written down the recipe when someone shared it with me!

We loved spending a whole day swimming and having a drink in the house’s different patios. The host and staff were attentive to our privacy, and the stay was peaceful. Dar Bibine feels like a hidden gem in the heart of Hara Sghira, while still being close to the main street if you’re driving. Gerard and his team served breakfast themselves every day, with recipes from his Belgian grandmother, and he shared his love for Djerba and its culture. The free fresh mineral water and coffee were much appreciated. Until next time!
