Shalimar

HONEYMOON HELL! We had to leave, this was the worst hotel we've stayed in. It wasn't a four-star place, not even two-star in my view. We arrived late at night and were told someone would show us around in the morning, which was fine. I think our first room was 128. We tipped the man who showed us to it. The room was grotesque. I've stayed in hostels nicer than that. The bed was stained and had pubic hair on it, the floor was dirty with chunks missing from the tiles, and the bedside light was hanging off the wall. There was no fridge or safe, despite those being advertised. The toilet had faeces in it and was filthy. There was hair in the sink, and I wouldn't use the shower. My wife sobbed when she saw the room. Maybe they heard her crying or realised it wasn't okay, because the reception man came. He was nice, the only nice staff member we had, and we were "upgraded" to another room. There were no leaflets or phone number to call reception, and nobody showed us around except the reps, who were aggressive. The food was DISGUSTING and dangerous. We're not posh and didn't expect spectacular food, but there were flies running all over it. We even saw them mating in our food. Staff didn't care. The meat was undercooked, and by day two my partner was seriously ill in bed. We hadn't eaten or drunk anything from elsewhere. On the first morning we were told to wait for the rep. A man came, said he worked for the hotel, and knew our names. He was very pushy and wouldn't let me go get cash to pay, insisting we use a card. He kept naming different cash currencies and wouldn't take no for an answer. He said it would cost 140 euros, then charged me £191. About an hour later the real rep arrived and explained we'd been conned. When we confronted the man, he got two other men to shout at me and then tried to return only £80. We eventually got back just £160.
