We left disappointed. We booked through Booking.com, and the online photos seemed old and gave us a misleading impression. The place felt more run down than expected. The rooms are tiny, and the bathrooms are small, old, and not modern. We also had no hot water in the shower. The woman there said she needed to contact someone to find out what could be done. It was frustrating that she seemed not to be in charge and was just there to hand over keys. After 15 minutes, nothing had been resolved. Thankfully, she kindly refunded us. Breakfast starts at 8:30, which is late when many activities begin at 8:30 or 9. Though the property is by the beach, it’s away from the tourist district where most activities and places to visit are, and getting a taxi from there is harder. The cellular network was awful. I could only get 4G standing outside in one spot, and had 3G in the rooms. There is wifi, but my phone asked me to buy a package before I could use it.

It’s a peaceful, uncrowded place to stay in Djerba, and Laila was an excellent host. She went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable and looked after, even helping us get coach tickets to the mainland. There are no regular buses nearby, but taxis can take you around the island. From Houmt Souk to Dar Elbidah, it was about 15 Dinar on average. Laila and Faiz welcomed us with warm smiles and refreshing drinks. Our rooms had wonderful sea views, and the rooftop was a lovely place to watch both sunrise and sunset.

A fascinating, beautiful place, and the people were very kind. They made me excellent vegan dinner options. Since it’s somewhat isolated, you’ll need a vehicle or a taxi to get there. I recommend getting up for a sunrise swim.

The staff were welcoming and ready to help, and the hotel was clean, cozy, and in a great location. It exceeded my expectations. There’s still room for a few small improvements, but that didn’t spoil an otherwise very positive stay. Highly recommend!

After a pretty horrible start to my trip on the other side of the island, arriving here was a lovely surprise. The owners are lovely and the staff are fantastic, with sublime views and unmatched hospitality. It’s also one of my favorite beaches in the area: at low tide you can walk out into the ocean in the morning, then come back for a swim at sunset.
