Dreams Beach

My family and I had a great time in Sousse, but this hotel let us down badly. It needs serious updating, from the worn carpets in the corridors to other things that need fixing. The photos didn’t match what we found. There were no sunbeds at the beach or pool, despite what we expected. The breakfast looked nothing like we’d hoped, just slop and stale cereal that was inedible. Trash was dumped around the area, there was a sewage smell outside, and cigarette smoke indoors meant we were breathing it in the whole time. The place reeked of cigarettes. As a 17 year old girl traveling with my family, I felt quite uncomfortable walking in Sousse, around the hotel, and at the beach. Men stared at me in a pervy way, and they also stared at my mum and my younger sister. Locals crowded and took over the beach, and some stared us down. I think the hotel should set aside part of the beach for guests. The photos also showed sunbeds that simply weren’t there. The rooms were standard and had the basics, but the air conditioner either blew dust and warm air when it worked, or didn’t work at all. There was no hair dryer for after the pool or beach, and no fridge, which was a big inconvenience since the rooms were large enough for a good-sized one. I noticed one or two stains on the pillowcases, though otherwise the rooms were okay. Some staff were really nice and helpful. Chef Toumi, the bald guy in the bar, was amazing, and his food was great. We felt welcome and comfortable with him. The cleaners were warm and welcoming too, as was the woman at reception who usually wears her hair in a ponytail. But the woman at the indoor pool spoke to me in a disgusting, unprofessional way, and my parents had to shout at her. The service was otherwise alright.
