I was here for six nights, and it was disappointing. The bathroom was dirty and very old, and Wi-Fi didn’t work in the rooms. Housekeeping only came once the whole time. Staff weren’t friendly or welcoming, and the dining hall was always overcrowded and couldn’t fit all the guests. The pool was much smaller than it looked in the photos. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

I wouldn’t come back. The reception staff were nice and helpful, but I felt extremely scared by what happened while I waited for my male friend to arrive later. I walked past the green pool, which looked nothing like the pictures, and glanced at the beach in the distance. Almost immediately, a young man beckoned me over. I signalled no and went back into the lobby. I could tell he was following me; he caught up and tried to persuade me to go with him, but I eventually shook him off. At the elevator a much older man followed me in, tried to talk to me in Arabic, then tried to follow me into my room. There was no double lock on the door. Please improve hotel security. The room was pretty dirty: stains on the linen, dirt on the floor, dark marks in the tub, no water coming from the sink, hair in the tub drain, and I killed a few cockroaches in the bathroom. The mattress and pillow were uncomfortable, there was lots of street noise, and the AC didn’t work. I had to leave the backdoor open, which made me uncomfortable after what happened. The buffet food gave me food poisoning for five days, the tablecloths were very dirty, and there was no Wi-Fi. I’d only stay one day at most if I had to. Unfortunately, I’d booked two nights.

We left after a couple of hours because the place was making us ill. Please don’t go, it’s a health hazard. I don’t know where to start, and writing this is making me depressed. This isn’t a hotel, it’s a slum. Don’t believe the pictures, they look about 20 years old. The pools were dirty and smelly, with rubbish and cigarette ends floating in them, and green, dirty old water all around. The rooftop pool looked like it hadn’t been cleaned or maintained for decades. The sunbeds were unusable, if you could even get one, and the tiles were cracked or broken so you couldn’t walk on them. Rooms were dirty and smelly, with stained mattresses and footprints all over the walls. Doors didn’t lock, and half the rooms had doors kicked in. There were bare wires sticking out of walls, uncovered sockets, a missing toilet seat, and no water. The restaurant was like a soup kitchen. That’s all I’ll say, or I’ll feel sick thinking about it. The reception smelled of urine as you walked in. Staff were rude and laughed when you complained. You won’t get any sleep because music from the restaurant next door shakes the building until 4 in the morning.

We checked in in the afternoon and checked out just hours later. We then stayed at the Marhaba Beach Hotel, the best decision ever. I’d read the line “if I could give this hotel a 0 star I would” many times, and sadly I’ve become a victim of it. Avoid this hotel at all costs. The pictures are old, maybe from when it was new. Now it’ll be your worst nightmare. The pools have no water, so trying to swim or dive could land you in hospital, and the rooms have no hot water.

The room was filthy, with dirt, hair, and mold in several places. The toilet, which was supposed to have been cleaned, smelled strongly of chlorine and still had dirt in spots. There was hair and crumbs all over the floor, and even the sheets weren’t clean, so lying in bed made you feel dirty. There wasn’t even soap or the usual basic toiletries. Staff showed no service or kindness. They shouted and argued in the hallway in the middle of the morning, and opened the room door even when we begged not to be disturbed. Street noise and shouting went on late into the morning, so we couldn’t sleep. The hotel is in the center, but right beside several nightclubs, which means lots of noise and fights. They claim to have internet, but it didn’t work at all. At reception, the guy said it only worked in the lobby, but it didn’t work there either. There’s a TV in the room, but it had no signal and no remote. Why have it at all? The dirtiest hotel I’ve ever been to. If I could, I wouldn’t even give it one star. Stay away for your own good. This hotel should be shut down immediately. I’ve included pictures, which speak for themselves.
