Hotel Majestic

The staff and location are excellent. It's a hotel with history, the rooms are very comfortable, and both breakfast and the dining room are good. The bathroom and shower are the one letdown, they need attention and aren't up to scratch.

We stopped for wine at the hotel bar, and its smoke, music, and decor made it feel like we'd gone back 60 years.

We arrived in the very early hours for the first night of a package round trip. The elevator is slow and small. Breakfast was a bit disappointing for both atmosphere and choice, though our waiter was very friendly.

Breakfast was good, and reception exchanges money at a good rate. The hotel itself needs an upgrade: the carpets are very old and stained from water. Smoke can be smelled in some rooms even though they try to clean it. A separate non-smoking floor would help people with allergies. There are lots of mosquitoes, so bring spray. Wi-Fi works okay in the hallway but doesn't always reach the rooms, and the gym isn't functional at the moment.
