Le Parisien Tunis

The one snag was the Wi-Fi, which was unreliable in our room. Otherwise, this was a great-value place to stay in Tunis. It was only a short walk to the city centre, and the breakfast included in the price was delicious. Our basic room was pleasant and clean, with hot water, a hair dryer, and a TV. Sheets and towels were replaced daily. Sabrina welcomed us warmly, explained how things worked, and quickly sorted out the A/C when it wasn't working. Highly recommended.

I stayed on Nov 27. The room was basic, but the customer service needs work. At midnight, a receptionist woke me to ask whether a friend had left my room. I couldn't get back to sleep and ended up driving to the airport for my 5 am flight. Staff need training. At check-in they automatically ask for your passport, though I declined and the manager accepted a photo ID, so that policy could be explained better. You also need to pay in advance or bring Tunisian dinar, since they don't take credit cards.

Be very careful. They asked me to send a “deposit” through a payment link, although that wasn't in the booking terms. They said none of my three credit cards worked. On top of that, the booking conditions were changed arbitrarily and my reservation was simply cancelled. Customer service was rude, unhelpful, and completely unprofessional. If you want peace of mind while staying in Tunis, don't book here.

The room was much cleaner than I expected, and the shower had amazing water pressure. The location is perfect, too. Such a lovely experience overall, with especially kind and helpful staff, particularly Sabrina.
