Compared with other hotels in Sousa and alhamamat, I think this place is worth it and the best. The food stood out most for us, with a well-organized lounge, lots of variety, and generous servings. The receptionist and other workers were respectful and welcoming. There were some upkeep issues, though. The room carpets smelled bad, so we opened the windows, perhaps because it was winter. The bathrooms were spacious and nice but not maintained well, and the hallways weren’t clean. The hotel fountains were switched off, and the pool wasn’t clean, though that might also have been because it was winter.

The room itself was tiny, and after we finally agreed to stay in it, they put a sheet on the cot and left us to call for pillows and a blanket. We had booked a superior room for three people, but found one king bed and were told a cot would be brought in. When we raised the problem, the front desk offered no solution and sent us back and forth, saying to check with the travel agency or that they didn’t have three-bedroom rooms. Then, after we’d driven 12 hours and waited three full hours, we felt forced to accept the small room because they threatened to refuse us service. This was my first trip to Tunisia, for a wedding, and I’d been excited. I paid for a five-star resort expecting what was advertised, but instead ran into misleading claims and extra charges. Three adults in a room meant for two wasn’t what I paid for. We were upset after the long journey and because of the price and expectations, but we weren’t aggressive or mean. I expected customer service to help us find a solution, and it didn’t. The room setup and response didn’t feel like five-star service, or even close. I’d call it two stars at best. I’m American and have traveled widely, and the lack of hospitality here shocked me. It felt as though the people working there were in the wrong business. I would have left, but I’d paid up front and would have lost all my money. I strongly advise staying away.

The food was delicious, and I’m grateful to the team for making this an unforgettable experience. I recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Tunisia. I hope management gives maintenance extra attention, since that could make it one of the best hotels in the country. Thanks again to all the team members, and if you try it, please let us know how your stay was.

We enjoyed the varied breakfast and the beach, and there were enough swimming pools for everyone to sunbathe and relax. The place is quiet, not too crowded, with plenty of green space, so it’s a good choice for a peaceful break. Special thanks to the lovely lady who checked us in, she was professional and kind. 🙏

The staff were good natured and willing to help, and that was the one positive thing about our stay. We were there for 11 days, and on nine of them we had to call repeatedly to get clean towels sent to the room. The bathrooms had mould, hallway doors were broken, paint was peeling, and the pool floor was chipped. The hotel seems to have had no upkeep in about 20 years and is in serious need of refurbishment. Its five-star rating came from the Tunisian tourism authority in 2005, and it’s nowhere near the five stars it advertises. Food and drinks were another problem. The manager needs to rethink the approach: we had a lot of trouble bringing outside food back to eat at the hotel later at night. They insisted we order everything, even Coke, Fanta, and iced tea, from their restaurants, which were very mediocre. The hotel restaurant and room service were even more expensive than some London hotels. Only after I argued with management were we allowed to bring our own food and drinks. It felt like a money-making scheme, with guests pushed to buy poor food instead of being given a good experience in decent rooms. Management really needs to rethink its priorities.
