It was pretty basic, but it did the job for me. The room looked a bit gloomy, the shower was only on the warm side rather than hot, and the mattress seemed a little old. Even so, I slept well, partly because the windows muted the noise nicely. When I arrived in the evening, the attached bar and restaurant were packed, and I figured my room would be right over them. It was, but I could barely hear the noise through the windows. Honestly, it was okay.

The Wi-Fi didn't reach my room. I asked several times for help or a fix and got nowhere, so I had to spend the whole time in the lobby to get a signal. There was a lot of noise, even at 2:30 a.m., and someone's nearby dogs barked nonstop all night, so close they might as well have been in the room. The city center is about a 30-minute walk. I'd only book here on a tight budget, and for a day or two at most.

Dream City had a fantastic DJ night. Everyone was dancing and the festival had a great vibe, with top-notch drinks and pasta. The atmosphere was beautiful and felt secure.

The reception gets full marks, and the room and bathroom were clean. The towels were so white they dazzled. The tablecloth was another story: I had to ask after three days for my dirty one to be changed. It's a cheap hotel compared with some. At about the same price, the Kaiser in Sousse should have four stars. The food was okay, but eating wasn't peaceful, with the place full of men drinking loudly. Only the receptionist spoke English, and the waiters didn't seem trained, as if they'd just picked it up. My bedroom faced a high wall, with no view, and there was nowhere much to sit. The only outdoor spot was a small patio with a few tables. I ate out there because the so-called dining room was full of men drinking. It wasn't a good time.

The Wi-Fi worked well, but breakfast was poor, and the room smelled strongly of smoke. If you don't smoke, it gets hard to tolerate. I was bitten by lots of mosquitoes by morning, and the carpet felt filthy. The bed squeaked, the blanket had no cover and looked like it had been used many times, and there were no slippers or hair dryer. I could hear every sound from the next room and people walking in the corridor. The hotel is dirty and badly neglected overall, and needs extensive maintenance. The street didn't feel safe, and the men at the front desk didn't seem reliable. One tried to overcharge me, but I stopped him. It seems people choose the place because there are no cheap alternatives in that location, and I haven't seen any new construction in central Tunis or the suburbs. It shouldn't be hosting customers in this condition. A nightmare.
