Buyukada Port Hotel

**On our first trip, we stayed five days as a couple, without kids.** The staff were amazing and went out of their way to help. They guided us through the different beach options and surprised us with little treats at lunch or dinner, like a lovely plate of seasonal fruit. Most spoke English, and even when they didn't, communicating was easy and fun. The room was clean and the hotel looked very cute. We ate at the restaurant several times, and the food was always good. The view was impressive, especially at sunset. It felt like the perfect choice. P.S. Expect a new feline friend every day wherever you go on the island. It's not Istanbul, but somehow it kind of is 😁🐾 **One year later, things had changed.** We booked by phone, but confirmation was delayed. When we asked the manager for an update, he said prices had gone up 30% since our conversation and we couldn't have the room at the agreed rate. After several conversations, he honored the price he'd promised a week earlier. The staff had all changed, and the stay was disappointing. Our room wasn't clean, the bathroom ceiling was falling apart, and the sheets were ripped when we arrived. Basic toiletries weren't replenished during our six-night stay, and we had to ask for toilet paper. Even though we bought 400 lira wine at the hotel restaurant, we weren't allowed to have glasses in the room. At dinner, we chose the same delicious pasta we had last year, then were told that the whole page of the menu wasn't available after 5 pm. It was Saturday night, and they seemed to be turning what had been a romantic place into a mehane 😐. Breakfast was supposed to run from 8:30 to 10:30, but by 10 there was nothing left and they had stopped refilling it. This year, the selection was limited and identical every day. It was really sad to see, and our honeymoon was ruined.
