Akpolat Residence

The apartment was warm despite the stone floor, bright, and had a balcony. It smelled pleasant and was clean, and we slept comfortably. There was a washer on the floor shared by four apartments, with detergent, an iron, and what we needed for laundry. The location worked well too. But there were no elevators, the windows were very dirty, and there was no microwave. The Wi-Fi was terrible almost the whole time, so I relied on mobile internet. The owners said it couldn't be fixed, and I couldn't work properly. When we arrived, the air conditioner and its remotes didn't work, and neither did the shower. They fixed those issues the next day. They also cleaned all the air conditioners while we were there, but left a lot of dirt behind. Nobody arranged cleaning afterward, so my daughter and I washed the floors and balcony ourselves after moving into a place that was already dirty. I later got a reply saying there were no cleaners and that the owner's husband could give us equipment to clean, though they eventually said a cleaner could come the next day. She came, but we had already cleaned it ourselves. At checkout, the owner's husband had helped with our suitcases when we arrived, but the hosts seemed to have lost interest by the time we left. My daughter and I had to carry our luggage back ourselves. The hostess ignored my request for help and wished us a pleasant flight. Her response to my complaint made me feel I'd been right to rate the service two stars. People travel with luggage, especially women with children. Discussing our bags in public showed guests how you treat them and their belongings. Fixing broken appliances in a guest's paid apartment without apologizing is also a problem. When I described mud and water on the floor and a balcony covered in dirt, I was told we could clean it ourselves. I couldn't wait until the next day in those conditions. The Wi-Fi was bad all the time, not just occasionally, and when I said I couldn't work, I was told that's how it is. All our correspondence is screened. Helping guests with their bags is part of being a good host; refusing, especially to a woman with children, is a failure. Their reply disgusted me enough that I may also write about the green, silty pool in the yard, the barbecue on bricks, and the dirty yard that still hasn't been cleaned. I wondered if it was because it wasn't the season, but it seemed to reflect the same attitude toward guests, spending time discussing our luggage instead of doing the job. It's no surprise the air conditioners were coated in dusty grime. They were so dirty they took several hours to wash with a high-pressure machine.

I was very happy with things. The staff were helpful, and they handed over the keys that same day.
