De Manor Boutique Hotel

The room was filthy, the shower backed up and wouldn’t drain, and the toilet hadn’t been cleaned. The towels seemed to have been used on the floor, because our feet stuck to it everywhere. We booked four nights but left after the first, having slept only three hours. There’s an outdoor pool area next door that isn’t part of the hotel. Its music was so loud we couldn’t hear our TV until well after midnight. Later, people came back from drinking, fought in the hall, and slammed doors until 4 am. Unless you’re planning to party and drink every night until you pass out, this isn’t the hotel for you. The front desk said there was no problem cancelling the rest of our booking and arranged a car to take us to another hotel. Now they’re refusing to keep their word about the refund. We travel a lot, and this is by far the worst and dirtiest hotel we’ve stayed in. I can’t help wondering whether the high ratings came from friends or family, or people who were a little tipsy. I wouldn’t recommend it to an enemy.

The sea view was beautiful, and the room was clean, though a little small. The receptionist was professional and easy to talk to, and the hotel is in a great location. I felt the restaurant staff could use more hospitality training to help guests feel welcome, since their service currently falls short.

Our room was a little small, but clean and nice, with a very comfortable bed and a fantastic sea view. Everyone on staff was pleasant and polite.

It was an okay stay, but I probably wouldn’t return. We saw cleaners on our floor, yet our room was cleaned just once. I asked almost every day about moving to a better room, but no one seemed to try to get us onto a higher floor. We were on the first floor and didn’t get the view I thought we would. The woman who checked us in at reception was absolutely lovely. The woman on the morning shift, though, never cracked a smile and felt unfriendly whenever we saw her. Being friendly matters, but making an extra effort for guests is what really earns recommendations.
