Hildegard Hotel

The rooms are new in design and very comfortable, and it’s clear the owners spent serious money renovating Hildegard hotel. There’s a big half-sized fridge in each room for drinks and snacks, a private balcony, and a large flat screen TV you can connect your own Netflix to. It’s about five minutes from the beach and main shopping street, set a few roads back so it should be fairly quiet. The hotel is small, spread over two buildings with no more than 30 rooms, and I’m not sure who it’s meant for. At present it feels more suited to people aged 17 to 23, maybe a first lads holiday. The walls are paper thin, so you hear arguments, music, slamming doors and even someone slapping down the stairs in flip flops at 1am. Lads on scooters would turn up loudly at 2am. If your room faces the pool, music, laughter and screaming start again at 8am. We switched to a street view room on the other side for more peace, but you still hear kids coming and going all hours. There’s no in-room safe, only one at reception that you pay to use, and there’s just one room card even if two people are staying. The air conditioning was a joke, taking about an hour to cool the room. The night shift receptionist was an absolute gent. The day staff weren’t as friendly. The guy with hair was rude most days, didn’t say hello or raise his head when we came or went, and made us uncomfortable. I’ve been to Antalya many times, most recently six weeks earlier in Side and Kaleici, and always stayed in small boutique hotels. Alanya was new to us, and we were excited after choosing this place carefully. I’ve tried to be fair so you know what to expect. It’s definitely not a five-star hotel, though it has positives. For us, a holiday should be relaxing, and after eight days we couldn’t wait to move to our next destination. We wouldn’t consider staying here again.

It’s a small hotel, and the people there are good and doing their best. The rooms are very clean. I wish they had better sound insulation, as it sometimes felt noisy, though that may just be me. Cleopatra beach is a short walk away. There are lots of good restaurants just 2-3 minutes from the hotel, and the hotel restaurants are worth trying too. I went to Alanyas best karaoke, Ekos, about a three-minute walk away. It was a great experience.

The place is clean and quiet, and the staff are really friendly and ready to help. A lovely place to stay, recommended!

The Beyti at the hotel is so good, you really should try it.
