The beach is lovely, and the hotel itself was clean. We had warm sea water and beautiful weather in October. The food had enough variety, with drinks and portions that suited us. Our room looked a little dated, but we were comfortable there. Staff were polite, though they sometimes cleared plates and cutlery without asking, almost as if they were following a signal. Getting here meant a three-hour transfer along the Turkish Riviera. A taxi to Alanya is €20, or you can catch the bus right outside the hotel for €2. We’d read plenty of reviews beforehand, so we had a fair idea of what to expect.

The food was good, the staff seemed nice, and the cleaning was good. Still, I wouldn’t recommend this place. The journey from the airport took us four hours, and most staff didn’t speak English or another language, so communication was difficult. The beach is small and can get crowded. Although it’s private, people from outside the hotel came and stayed every day without anyone asking them to leave. The water gets wavy often, and there’s a steep entry with lots of big rocks, which makes getting in difficult and potentially dangerous for people who can’t swim. There wasn’t much choice at the bar, and the drinks didn’t taste good. My mojito tasted like Sprite with pills. Breakfast also had limited options, with hardly any dessert beyond fruit, jam, halva, and some biscuits. Later in the day, food could run out if you arrived late at the restaurant, and finding a free table in the crowds was difficult. The entertainment seemed aimed at Turkish guests. The rooms looked ugly, and so did the hotel. The corridors felt very hot and humid during the day. The walls were thin enough that we could hear the people next door talking and laughing as if they were in our room, which was very annoying. It didn’t feel like a five-star hotel to me. I’ve stayed in a four-star place that looked much, much better.

We’ve been here for eight days with our two kids, with two more to go before we leave. The room has been just right for our family, and the air conditioning always works. There’s a good range of food, so everyone can find something they like, and it’s been really tasty. The staff have been smiling and quick to help whenever we need something. Thanks to everyone at Drita Hotel for being so kind to us and the kids. I’d absolutely recommend staying here, so don’t hesitate to book.

The pool, the only one there, shuts at 6 PM, which leaves everyone disappointed. The large “aqua park” mentioned in the offer is actually a single slide, open for just 3.5 hours a day in two sessions. The second starts at 3 PM, when the sun is at its strongest and the risk of sunstroke is high. The service also falls short of what I’d expect from a five-star hotel or an ultra all-inclusive package. For an alcoholic drink on the beach, beer is the only option. During the evening program on the upstairs terrace, I asked for wine and was told they had none, and that I could perhaps get some at the pool.

The grounds are well looked after, the hotel is spotless, and the staff made us feel welcome. At Drita Hotel Resort & Spa in Kargicak, we had a comfortable, relaxing stay with a nice pool and the facilities you’d expect from a good resort. It sticks pretty close to the usual resort standard rather than trying to go beyond it, but it does the basics consistently and without fuss. A dependable place to unwind by the sea.
