Utopia Beach Club

We went on the 8th of September, when it wasn’t crowded. The hotel was generally very clean, and being surrounded by trees made it feel like a peaceful holiday in nature. The beaches had clear, warm water and golden sand, though getting there means going up and down. The food was good, but there weren’t many vegetarian choices and most things came with meat. Other hotels have prepared more dishes separately from meat so people can mix what they want. Our bathroom also had a really bad smell. Apart from that, it was a relaxing break.

The staff were the one bright spot. They were kind, professional, and dedicated, especially Dilara, Can, Ercem , Hasan etc. But that couldn’t make up for the hotel’s serious problems. My husband and I chose it for our honeymoon, and it was nowhere near what I’d expect of a 5-star place. The food was poor, limited, and low quality. It stayed the same for four days, fruit was scarce, and there was no seafood at all despite the seaside location. I’d give the food no more than 4 out of 10. Our room was uncomfortable too. The air conditioning often failed, hygiene and cleanliness were poor, and the cleaning staff seemed unprofessional. We had to ask for clean towels each day even though the room was set to “clean mode.” The sheets weren’t changed during our four nights, just arranged to look changed. There weren’t even toothbrushes. An iron was only available for an extra fee, which isn’t acceptable for a 5-star hotel. It was a disappointing stay, and I wouldn’t recommend it. This hotel doesn’t come close to 5-star standards.

The beach itself is nice, but getting to anything from the building takes far too much walking, whether it’s bars, restaurants, or toilets. That was the only positive thing for us. We’re on a UAI holiday, and there’s a general lack of food. You can’t find guzleme, fruit, fresh snacks, or ice cream at normal times. The beach bar serves burgers, pizza, and durums from 12:00 to 18:00, with no fresh food or fruit. Ice cream is only open 12:00 to 16:00, when we were often indoors avoiding the strong sun. On our last visit, four of the six options were available. Freshly squeezed juice costs 3 euro 🤣. The buffet tastes okay, but it’s the same every day. Breakfast didn’t change in all 10 days, and lunch was much the same too. Attempts to vary dinner were laughable: yesterday’s ramen was tasteless and far from real ramen, and the sushi was inedible. One hostess was outright rude and applied double standards. She wouldn’t let me take desserts, but the next day Russians could put them in a napkin. When I raised it, she falsely said she’d told me the same thing, which she hadn’t, or I wouldn’t have returned my dessert plate. The lobby bar has sweets and some sandwiches, but it’s far from any beach. The brochure says the cakery runs 01:00 to 07:00 and offers sandwiches, but it was closed when we checked. I have photos. Some bartenders were also rude and seemed unwilling to make a drink even when I was polite. Cleaning was good for the first two or three days, then stopped. We’d leave at 8 and return at 14, and for the last three or four days the room still hadn’t been cleaned. We had to ask reception for towels, toilet paper, and water. The balcony and bathroom weren’t touched either. In 10 days the room was cleaned twice, towels changed three or four times, and the minibar refilled two or three times, though all of this should have happened every day. If one man can’t do the job, hire more people. Most guests speak Russian, and staff first answer in Russian. At this point it feels like we’re in Russia. I don’t know why they speak first in another language in their own country. Somehow this is my third attempt to post my negative review, and it keeps getting removed. We’re still here, and there’s more to say, but I’ll finish my holiday and edit later.

A small frustration was how late checkout is handled. You have to ask reception on the morning you leave, so you could easily miss the chance. It would be better to have a way to book it ahead. Otherwise, we had a nice stay at Utopia Beach Club. The water and surroundings were crystal clear, the rooms clean, and service friendly. Activities were entertaining, and the seaside location was perfect for a relaxing family vacation. Everything was well maintained. Recommended.
