Atakosk Hotel

The air conditioner was dusty and dirty inside, and it triggered an allergic reaction for me. They cleaned it in front of us, and the filters were full of dust. The restrooms also didn’t work properly. Breakfast was very poor: old bread and cheese, and usually no juice. Laundry cost $100 for one small bag, which felt overpriced, and it came back only after two days. They were upset when we asked about the price, which hadn’t been explained in advance. Staff yelled at us in Turkish, which we didn’t understand, and they didn’t speak English well. They also charged extra without explaining why. When we asked, they called the police, and I felt they were trying to make us pay for something we shouldn’t have to. The manager was rude and said we should leave if we didn’t like it. I was recovering from surgery with drainage tubes, but she showed no care. Reception staff yelled at us and tore up paperwork in front of us. The management was extremely disrespectful and unprofessional. We stayed only because my medical condition and drainage after surgery meant I physically couldn’t leave or move to another hotel. We asked the manager for help, but nobody, including the manager, spoke English. Instead, we were threatened and the police were called. It felt like we had no right to ask what we were paying for, even though I had drainage after surgery. Shame on you. The laundry price was never communicated beforehand. Big lie.

The big rooms, lovely spacious lobby, and friendly reception and service staff make this good value for the price, and the location is prime. The furnishings are worn, especially the dusty curtains and old towels, and breakfast is average. It needs the rooms updated.

The building feels dated, but the service was fantastic. They even upgraded my room for free. I’d read the other breakfast reviews, but I thought it was great.

The rooms were clean and spacious, with plenty of amenities, and the front desk staff were friendly and spoke English. Still, I’m not sure I’d come back. The location isn’t ideal if you’re walking, with a decent trek to shops and restaurants, and the busy highway outside makes the rooms somewhat loud. WiFi was available but painfully slow. I’d look at other places before booking again.
