Furkan Homes

The owners were considerate and very nice, and made a real effort to speak English with us. It was a lovely apartment and I had a really good experience. My brothers were thrilled there was a pool, and I loved it too. Antalya is a perfect place to stay.

We left straight away and found a much better place five minutes away on foot. It was cheaper, bigger, higher quality, and had a great host. The AirBnB listing is called “amazing palace in a very nice location,” if anyone wants to look it up. AirBnB gave us a full refund after seeing our photos and hearing what happened at Furkan Homes, where the manager had refused one. At check-in, staff rushed around trying to work out who we were and which room we should have, as if they hadn’t expected us. We’d booked a “Garden Floor” room, which sounds like ground floor, but at Furkan Homes it meant semi-basement. The bedroom was entirely underground with no windows. The only window in the whole apartment was in the living room, and that’s where any light came from. “Garden Floor” may sound nicer in an advert, but who wants a room underground on a holiday in sunny Turkey? The room was damp and humid, smelled because of it, and had exposed wiring and a damaged wall. In rainy season, being underground made it a nightmare. When I raised all this with the manager, he just said to pay more for a better room. The room we were given also wasn’t the one on our welcome envelope. Its shower leaked, the tap wobbled, and there was no key. We went to reception later to get it and were told the previous guest hadn’t handed it in. Three times we asked about the key and were told to come back in half an hour. The manager was apparently off that day. Eventually we stood our ground and demanded the room we had booked. It was actually better than the first one. At least we didn’t lose any money after this happened at the start of our trip.

The manager was very friendly and arranged a guide and a car for eight hours so we could see the city. He showed us all the important places for a reasonable price. I highly recommend these clean, spacious apartments.

We left the apartment the next day, even though we’d planned to stay for a week. Our experience at Furkan family was awful: the host gave us a terrible apartment, different from the one we booked, then argued with us and wouldn’t even offer a discount for the situation. I totally don’t recommend it.
