Sky Business Hotel

The one bright spot was the receptionist, who was kind and supportive. The hotel looks nice at first glance and might be good with proper management and service, but the current state was disgusting and the service terrible. Our flight was cancelled and Smartwings chose this hotel for us. The rooms and shared areas were dirty and poorly maintained. Breakfast was a joke: old food served by one person who didn’t speak English. This is not a 5-star hotel.

After our TUI flight was delayed by 14 hours, we reached Sky Business Hotel in the middle of the night, exhausted and just wanting a clean room and a few hours of sleep. The first room had no working air conditioning, impossible in the hot weather. Room two was filthy, with dirty floors, stained bedding, hair on the beds, a torn cot with dribble in it, and a bathroom that clearly hadn’t been cleaned. We were moved again, but the third room was still awful. By then it was 4 am and I couldn’t take any more. We didn’t choose this place, TUI arranged it, and I wouldn’t recommend it. If you’re thinking of booking it yourself, avoid it.

The conditions were disgusting and inhumane. The floors and beds were dirty, the food disgusting, and the staff rude. When flights are cancelled, passengers get sent to this rubbish hotel. Jet2 said soft drinks would be covered, but an uneducated manager said they wouldn’t pay. I feel like throwing up as I write this. Don’t take any positive comments at face value, check Trustpilot.

We were delayed for 3 DAYS, and the place felt like a holding pen for stranded passengers. I’d booked a decent 4/5-star all-inclusive hotel, and Sky Business isn’t even two stars. It’s in the middle of nowhere, nowhere remotely touristy. If easyJet, TUI or Jet2 sends you here, I’d refuse and look for a hotel that reflects what you paid for. I’m sure the hotel will reply and try to explain or twist things, but this is what I experienced, and other frustrated delayed passengers I spoke with felt the same. We were in room 805. The hotel has apparently claimed the upper floor was out of bounds for renovation, but that wasn’t true for us. Our room felt unsafe, with trip hazards, including at the top of steep wooden stairs, and water leaks. The hard, outdated sofa bed wasn’t suitable for my youngest, who was four. He cried that his sides hurt, and when we asked for a proper pillow, they said they didn’t have one. He slept on a hard cushion for three nights and woke up sore. The air conditioning barely worked on level 8. Reception gave me an extra key card to run it, but the room was still very hot. The food was horrendous. Breakfast had chips and onion rings reheated from the night before, and wilted salad that had clearly been sitting out too long. On our last night, food sat out sweating for hours even though only about three rooms were in use. I think they prepare food and reuse or reheat it because they don’t know when delayed passengers will arrive. We got there at 2 am and were told to go and eat, so the food can be left out for hours. The drink rules were another problem. If you’re with easyJet, they limit you to two soft drinks a day and padlock the fridge. The staff didn’t care that it was 35 degrees and we had young kids. They said, ‘them’s the rules.’ TUI and JET2 guests got true all-inclusive, though the food was terrible, so it was the drinks we missed out on. We got mixed messages, and at one point a staff member called Enner said we couldn’t have drinks and asked us for money when we were allowed them. At first the hotel can look nice, but it’s not welcoming for easyJet guests. They treat you like a second-class citizen. There was one helpful, nice woman on reception with lighter or blonde hair. Most other staff were unsympathetic and unhelpful, though maintenance workers and cleaners were nice. Maybe staff have become desensitised to delayed passengers being frustrated, but they came across as uncaring.
