Hotel Selina

The setting is lovely, with olive trees around the garden pool where you can swim or sit in the shade. Although it’s on Cunda Island, it’s away from the crowds, only three minutes by car to the island center and five to Ayvalık center. It was quiet and very clean while we were there. Breakfast was included and was good quality and quite enough for us. Dinner is available if you tell them at lunchtime, though we ate at restaurants in Cunda and Ayvalık instead; try the fish places while you’re here. Mr. Hüsnü and the staff were helpful, and it felt like a comfortable place for a family stay. Would I return? Absolutely. It’s a boutique hotel that delivered more than I expected.

Our five days at Cunda Selina Hotel were a really good surprise. My mother, sister, and I felt at home, thanks especially to the kind, attentive staff. The rooms were spacious, clean, and hygienic throughout. The pool was spotless and a nice place to cool off, and the location worked well for us: right in Cunda, about ten minutes by car from Ayvalık center and five from the beach. It felt calm and safe for families. Breakfast had plenty of tasty choices. We also enjoyed the complimentary treats and drinks, and found the bar prices reasonable for the time. Everyone was hospitable. Mr. Hüsnü and Ms. Burcu deserve a special mention for personally taking care of details and being sincere and good at finding solutions. I was happy with the whole stay. If you’re in Cunda and looking for somewhere quiet and comfortable, I’d recommend Selina Hotel with confidence.

It was easy to get around from here, since the hotel sits almost halfway between Cunda and Ayvalık, and having parking was a real bonus. The rooms were neat and clean, and the pool garden where breakfast was served felt peaceful and natural. We stayed four nights, and all the staff were calm, attentive, and careful, especially Mr. Hüsnü. We had dinner at the hotel once: big portions, fair prices compared with Cunda center, and the food was decent. I’d choose this place again without hesitation if I return to Cunda. And a hello to the gentleman I told to grab some water from the fridge when I came downstairs thirsty at night. I only saw him sitting in the garden at night, and hope we get to chat next time. We expected much more after reading the reviews, but our stay was a letdown. On arrival, it seemed the place was full of friends and relatives rather than actual guests, which made us question how realistic the reviews were. We had asked for a baby cot, but it was forgotten, and nobody apologized or explained. We’ve stayed at dozens of hotels and resorts, and when things went wrong elsewhere, we were at least offered an apology or something complimentary. Here, we couldn’t even find anyone to speak with. The room was dusty everywhere and the cleaning was poor. Even plastic bins would have been preferable to the rusty ones. The wooden shelf felt unstable, the linen smell was much too strong for us, and the bed was uncomfortable. Breakfast was meager and basic, with no hot egg option. The location and garden might have been the only positives, but we couldn’t enjoy them after this experience. We don’t recommend it.
