Ramada Residences by Wyndham Balikesir

My family and I arrived at 2 a.m., exhausted after a long trip, and this was the worst Ramada I've stayed at anywhere in the world. It took nearly an hour to get through a basic five-minute conversation because the receptionist's English was so poor that we had to use a translator. We politely asked for a discount for the day, since we arrived at 2 a.m. and check-in is around 1 p.m., meaning most of the day was already gone. The receptionist had a bad attitude and didn't care. We also asked for even one extra hour at checkout, but he said no with an even worse attitude. When we decided to leave this garbage hotel and asked him to get us a taxi, he just shrugged and said no. We left on our own and went to the nearby Hilton, where the service was much better than at this so-called Ramada. They were helpful and friendly, and we could communicate with them. I don't recommend this hotel at all. The staff and receptionist were terrible and useless, and the hotel should take action over staff like this.

The rooms were okay and the beds fine, but be aware that the air conditioning can't go below 25C. The busy street made it very noisy. Smoking is forbidden in hotels and restaurants, but they didn't seem to care, and the restaurant was full of smoke. Completely unacceptable in 2024. I won't go back.

The restaurant was my biggest problem. I ate there more than once on most days and kept having trouble with the food. It was always overpriced, and the temperature was always off, whether overcooked, raw or frozen. The only reason I kept going was the wonderful owner and his wife. She always tried to fix things and handled everything herself, which is why I'm giving a second star. The place seemed to have management problems, and since they still have the same managers, I guess it's probably still the same. There's nothing special about the hotel. The rooms are okay, but the air conditioning was awful. I also found it overpriced for Balikesir, since you can get similar quality nearby. Thank God I'm not having many financial problems, but an ordinary person could find similar quality at other nearby places.

The staff were wonderful and extremely helpful, and without them I would've given this one star. The room was unbearably hot because the air conditioning was broken, and after four hours without sleep I finally got moved. The second room was cooler, but the heating didn't work, and the shower water was cold, so I couldn't use it. In the morning, staff kindly opened another room so I could use warm water. The bed was comfortable, though the pillows were too deep for me, so I used a small throw cushion instead. Breakfast was disappointing, with only boiled eggs, fried eggs that looked like plastic, and some warm pancake-style bread in the hot selection. The kitchen staff did make me a delicious omelette when I asked. Still, the day was a bit of a disaster, even though this should by all accounts be a five-star stay. I spoke to the manager, who kindly agreed to refund half of the booking payment. The hotel doesn't look old, but it feels like it needs some TLC and a lot of improvement.
