Elaia Hotel

For the two days I was there, I felt at home. Vedat was the most helpful person I’ve met in all my travels. When my car broke down, he came right away and drove me himself to a mechanic he trusts and uses. Breakfast was tasty and clearly made with care. It isn’t waiting on the table when you get up, since he prepares it while you sit and wait, about five minutes, so it’s warm and fresh. I’d recommend Elaia to anyone looking for a welcoming place to stay in Bergama. Vedat abi hakkini helal et.

We stayed in the ground-floor unit, one of three in the hotel. It had a king bed and a double bed. Just outside our room were a kettle, tea, coffee, a water dispenser, a washing machine, and a table with chairs, all for our use. Parking was on the street in front. Everything was clean and the accommodation was comfortable overall. The host was kind, friendly, and helpful. The included breakfast was substantial and nicely presented.

Getting to the Alaia hotel through the old cobbled streets was tricky, and even Google Maps couldn't get us there. The owner communicated well and helped us find the place. Tucked beneath the Pergamon ruins in Bergama’s old Ottoman section, it has eccentric, delightful furnishings and was a good choice. The owner's Turkish breakfast was delicious, and everything was within walking distance.

It’s a tiny, beautiful hotel with three rooms and a small courtyard, in a quiet part of town. The walk was fine, and there are a couple of small Turkish minimarts nearby. The rooms were clean, though of course not modern since it’s an old historic building. Hot water was fine, and you can hear chickens and dogs. Breakfast was good, better than average for a Turkish breakfast. I asked to check in early and leave my stuff, and the owner was very accommodating. He spoke good English.
