Diamond of Bodrum Hotel

The staff were polite, helpful, and smiling, despite what some reviews say. The cleaners did a great job too, leaving our room spotless each time. For a decent holiday price, this hotel worked well for us, even though the rooms are small and could use refurbishment. That didn’t bother us. The location is ideal. Bodrum center is a 10-minute walk away, and there are two ferry ports: one in the center and another five minutes from the hotel on the left. A ferry to Greece Kos takes an hour and costs 32€ per person. The hotel has a spa, gym, clinic, hairdresser, and private beach. Food was OK for us, though it got a bit boring and repetitive. We’re not picky eaters. The snack bar, open from 12 to 5, has a decent range to order from, plus very tasty ice cream and good coffee. Entertainment was limited, but Bodrum center is close if you want more to do. I’d have liked the pool bar to play more English music, as hearing Turkish music all the time got a bit annoying. We liked our stay and don’t think some of the bad reviews are fair. If you’re not fussy and know you’re paying a decent price for a holiday, this hotel could suit you.

My room had a stunning view and was spotless, spacious, and beautifully designed. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel welcome. It was an absolutely outstanding stay.

The best thing about the hotel was the view, especially the sunsets from the terrace, and the location near Bodrum center. Most of the staff were friendly. Rooms were cleaned daily, though the mini fridge was never restocked. There’s access to a small beach, but sunbeds were limited there too. This was advertised as a 5-star hotel, but felt like 3 stars at most. We paid extra for a garden-view room, but the view was limited, and the room itself was small and basic. Bathroom sink and shower pressure were low, and the water wasn’t always warm. The air conditioning was our biggest problem in 45-degree heat. We couldn’t sleep at night or cool off during the day, and the room stayed very hot and humid throughout the stay. Reception said they had no fan. A man checked the air conditioning but didn’t fix or adjust anything. He said it would work in 30 minutes, but nothing changed, even though it had already been on for four hours. The valet service was another issue. We left the car and keys outside as instructed and got a receipt, but the car sat on the road for four hours. When we asked reception, we found out staff had lost the keys and forgotten to move it. My partner doesn’t drink alcohol, but was given a vodka Coke when he ordered a Coke. Drink orders were wrong several times. I know mistakes happen, but it added to the disappointment. There weren’t enough sunbeds. You had to come down at exactly 8 a.m. to get a towel and reserve one, and space for guests was very limited. Food quality and variety weren’t good either. There were about 6-7 main dishes, and they got repetitive. Some tasted reheated or microwaved, with very few desserts and snacks. The drinks weren’t up to the standard of other ‘5-star’ hotels either. The hotel was affordable compared with other options in Bodrum, but I wouldn’t return and don’t think it deserves a 5-star rating. The view was beautiful, the location was convenient, and the staff were friendly.

The view is the only good thing about this hotel. It feels misleading to advertise it as 5-star. We paid extra for a garden-view upgrade and didn’t get a garden view. The room had no air conditioning, the water pressure was very poor, and there was no bathroom ventilation. The pool was overcrowded, with no room for guests. Food was extremely bland, and all the desserts tasted the same, so I’d avoid eating here. Valet parking was badly managed. It’s not suitable for families. Staff service was hit or miss: a few people were polite, but many were very rude.
