# Greenport Hotel Bodrum # Joly Tours Türkiye We lost a whole day here, and if zero or a negative score were possible, that’s what I’d give. The food was terrible. There was no usable way to get to the sea without going down 105 steps, and the water was immediately over 2 meters deep, so it wasn’t suitable for children. The pool was murky green and looked like a health hazard. The room had mold everywhere, and the hygiene was unacceptable. Don’t trust the online photos, they’re very misleading. We wanted to leave right away. They offered to let us stay as “guests” for free, but later withheld compensation for a day and a half. I could have accepted losing one day, but not more. They agreed with what I said and admitted the hotel was old, but old and dirty are different things. An old hotel can still be clean. Our children couldn’t swim in the pool, which I’d hoped might at least save the holiday. I asked a staff member about the water because it looked unsafe. He said he didn’t want to take responsibility, but did admit the filtration system was having problems. I contacted Joly Tours, and they confirmed the pool had an issue and was closed over health concerns. Later, the hotel manager told me there was “no health risk,” contradicting what we’d been told. That evening they started pumping out the pool, removed half the water and refilled it with clean water. It didn’t solve the problem. With no sea access and no usable pool, what are you supposed to do there?

The travel agent’s beach photos were clearly different from what was there. There is NO beach, just a concrete embankment and steps down into the water. It isn’t the cleanest place, and the food is basic with very little choice. The guides were incompetent: they advised us not to take our passports, then threw us off the bus halfway through the trip.

The balcony view was the best part, looking out beautifully across the water. We were almost the only guests off-season and were surprised the place was open. Our room was clean but a little tired, with a large double and a single bed separated by the bathroom. The manager was friendly and spoke English well. We booked room only, but could get hot water for drinks. The air conditioning kept the room warm. Hot water was available, though you had to let the tap run for a minute or two. Migros and Bim are nearby, with a bakery and restaurants within walking distance. For a budget stay, I bet it would be a really nice place to visit in summer.

I’d give no stars if I could. When we arrived, we were sent straight to our room with our bags and got no information about meal and drink times or where anything was, so we had to figure it out ourselves. The air conditioning wasn’t working. Someone came to refill the gas, but it still had a problem, and we eventually changed rooms later that evening. By then dinner was being served, so we rushed to get food. It was horrible, and we had to eat out despite paying for all-inclusive. What we did eat there made us ill, and by the end of our five days we both had diarrhea and sickness. The pool was dirty, our room was filthy, and the shower was broken. We spent the holiday at a local beach instead, and wasted so much money we hadn’t planned to spend. We just wanted five days of relaxing without having to go out. My partner and I are so upset. The staff were rude, and the DJ played the same rubbish songs every night and seemed more interested in flirting with us women. Honestly, don’t waste your money. Go somewhere else.

The smell from the soda area beside the buffet was awful, like rotten meat or a dead animal. I nearly vomited and couldn’t eat. The rooms were bad too, with a stench coming from the toilets through the old plumbing and right to the bed. I wanted to leave and find somewhere decent to sleep. If my pregnant wife and I hadn’t been exhausted and new to the area, I would have left in the middle of the night. I couldn’t sleep and woke at 5 a.m., counting the minutes until my wife got up so we could get out of there. I still can’t understand how this is possible. The property should be condemned and torn down. I’m not sure who they asked or paid for kind reviews, but none of them are true!
