Ramada Resort By Wyndham Bodrum Hotel

The place looks very nicely renovated and has good views of the Mediterranean, but it’s not near the beach or much else. A taxi to the old town, where the tourist attractions are, costs about TL300. Breakfast was average at best, and the food looked as though it had been left out for days. Dinner at the restaurant was much better for sushi, though the meat dishes were really poor. Service was okay, but it was frustrating that nobody understood English. I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you can’t speak Turkish.

I stayed a few nights recently. The rooms were comfortable, the hotel was pleasant, and it’s about a five-minute taxi ride to the sea. The restaurant was okay, nothing special. Breakfast was the real problem: sour milk, food that looked like it had been sitting out for days, and poor quality overall. There wasn’t a toaster, just a huge industrial grill that guests couldn’t figure out how to use. When I raised this with the breakfast staff, they were resistant. Ramada, this needs major improvement and isn’t acceptable for what’s meant to be a five-star hotel.

The indoor pool was small and chaotic when busy, though the hamam was okay and generally clean. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for the value it puts on its services, and it didn’t feel very family-friendly. Breakfast was poor, with few healthy choices for kids or anyone looking for them. The bananas were so ripe they were hard to eat, and it felt like low-quality products were being dressed up in a semi-fancy setting to cut costs. Staff, especially the Turkish staff, seemed unhappy and unresponsive during busy periods. We weren’t told the outdoor pool was closed for construction. We complained about dirt-like particles in the pool, and although staff said they’d deal with it, they were still there five days later when we left. Our room had an empty wine bottle left by previous guests, and the area under the beds was filthy. The open central area made sounds echo, so we heard people slamming doors in the middle of the night. We were told our room overlooked the sea, but you needed hawk eyes to see it. It was right above the staff smoking area, so we were exposed to their smoking. We also requested help from the technical team, who removed a part and never put it back.

The hotel grounds are lovely, with lots of trees, and the pool was lovely too. The staff were so hospitable. The security guy welcomed us from the parking area every time as if we were coming to his home. An Indonesian waitress was lovely and gave great service. Big thanks to the ladies on the housekeeping team. We enjoyed our visit and were fully satisfied.
