Mövenpick Hotel & Thermal Spa

The spa was so unsanitary that I couldn't use it. The pool walls were brown, and the grout in the little seating area inside the pool was covered in brown slime. There was thick hard-water buildup everywhere. The hammam smelled awful, probably because the drains weren't clean, and every marble surface had white spots instead of shining or smelling fresh. Even the water bowls were brown underneath. I could see a layer of white residue in the sauna without going in. The lights were all white, the robes were too short, towels were ripped, and the seats were dirty with used towels left on them. I can't understand how recent reviews call the spa clean and sanitary. Our room was spacious, with clean, nice-smelling linens and towels, and plenty of cupboard space for everything we brought. Housekeeping was super efficient too. We asked for longer bathrobes and they brought larger ones right away. Staff were kind, polite, and respectful of my personal space. Room service and food were just like at other Mövenpick hotels. No one was there to help with luggage when we arrived or left. I managed, but I noticed it. The hot breakfast items were consistently poor, with no taste or texture. The cold section was good apart from the rubbery, tasteless olives. The fruit and vegetables were fresh, the mini croissants were perfect, the tea was brewed just right, and the orange juice really tasted of orange, so I enjoyed breakfast. The rooftop restaurant and bar were closed during my stay. There’s a huge park across the road, and the neighborhood is calm and quiet.

There isn't anything here that makes the price feel justified. I'd have no complaints if this were a cheap three-star hotel, but it's marketed as luxury and clearly isn't. It isn't awful, just wildly overpriced. The rooms are dated, with no Smart TV or way to connect a phone, so Turkish cable is basically the only option. The shower gel dispenser was empty for our first two days. When we politely asked the front desk to refill it, the gentleman spent five minutes telling us why we were wrong and when we should time requests around housekeeping availability. Shouldn't bathrooms be checked before guests arrive? The thermal spa, the hotel's main attraction, is dingy, and glaring fluorescent lights show years of wear. The chairs are always taken, but nobody's sitting in them. Used towels sit there all day after their owners have left. Breakfast is mediocre at best, with no omelet option, just scrambled eggs that look more like soup.

The thermal spa on -2F was wonderful in the cold weather, and we loved it. At the rooftop restaurant, the view and hospitality were great. Reception spoke good English and was helpful, while the room was very clean. The floor 8 housekeeper was especially friendly and patient when my children asked for help. Getting around from the hotel isn't very convenient, but there's free parking, and taxis were 200LT to town and 300LT to the cable car. A taxi was easier than hunting for parking downtown. Highly recommend Movenpick Bursa!

The one snag was the bar fridge, which wasn't working when we arrived and was needed for my medication. Otherwise, I'd stay here again if I return to Bursa. Koza Han is a 20-minute walk or a $6 cab ride away, and the hotel seems centrally located. There's valet parking, though we didn't take the car anywhere. Check-in was easy and the staff spoke English well. Our room was nice and clean, with a view over the park. The blackout blinds blocked the building lights at night, and we heard no outside noise once the window was closed. The rainfall shower was roomy by Turkish standards. We only had drinks at the lobby bar and rooftop bar/restaurant, and the rooftop was a nice way to end the day. Breakfast was really good, with plenty of choice. The manager kept checking that the buffet was clean and the food fresh. The thermal pool was nice and quiet when we went. We didn't buy any of the services, though someone was having a traditional-style Hammam treatment and it looked cool. We just didn't have time.
