Ozkan Hotel

The check-in clerk was a sweetheart, and this rating isn't about him. I ended up here because the hotel I'd originally booked had double-booked us. The location is hard to judge. It's on Uzungol Lake, but I wouldn't recommend staying by the lake. I expected peace and quiet, but it was the opposite. It felt more like a cheap bazaar or mini downtown than a serene place, with visitors from the Gulf Regions who seemed entitled and inconsiderate. The room had no air conditioning, so we had to leave the windows open. That meant honking, loud music, cigarette smoke, and car pollution. Inside, it smelled of gasoline and mold. It was an old, filthy room with broken bathroom fixtures and furniture, water leaking all over the bathroom, and cigarette burns on the furnishings. One bathroom door couldn't open all the way because it hit the toilet. The mold smell made my head spin, the beds were extremely uncomfortable, and we could hear people upstairs walking all night. Although it's supposed to be a no-smoking facility, people were smoking in the hotel. We were meant to stay two days, but I wish we hadn't even spent one night there. After a very long day of travel, with nowhere else vacant in the area, we stayed out of desperation and couldn't wait for morning to leave. There was no room service, and to reach the front desk you had to go downstairs in person. The WiFi was choppy. They did park the car for us. There was a narrow view of the lake, but you had to look over garbage tossed down from the upper floors, and those floors could look straight into the room, so keeping the curtains open for the view wasn't really an option. Don't stay here even if it's free.
