The place is modern, fully equipped for cooking, and the people were kind. Parking is on the street right outside the door. But check-in took ages with all the passport paperwork, and the staff couldn't understand English as the booking site had indicated. When we arrived, the first room offered was a souplex, basically underground, and there were no double beds available. It took about half an hour to get a clean, spacious room instead. In the middle of winter, seeing an underground room with school beds was a huge surprise. That's why losing two stars felt justified.

A great place to stay, clean and close to the city centre. There are markets and petrol stations nearby too.

Communicating was really difficult because nobody at the hotel spoke English or any language other than Turkish. I waited hours for my Turkish friends to come translate before I could leave. In the end, the owner kept twisting his arguments to make it seem like he had a point, which I found really disappointing. The hotel seems to have a very loose idea of standards and commitments. It felt as though they expected you to accept any bed or room setup they gave you. The online room descriptions seemed like a fairy tale compared with what we actually got, which was lower quality than what had been promised and paid for.

I spent one night at the Hayat. The room was spotless, spacious, and well equipped, and the front desk staff were friendly and accommodating. I'd highly recommend staying here.
