Hasan at the front desk was an amazing host. He helped me pick a room with wonderful sea views, arranged a taxi when my Uber didn’t work, and spoke beautiful English. Uber doesn’t work here, so taxis paid in cash seem to be the main way to get around. The hotel is under new management, which is useful to know when reading older reviews. My updated room was stunning and so clean, with a big balcony, mini fridge and the coziest bed I’ve slept in for ages. I felt very welcome and well looked after. I really enjoyed my five nights at Denis Hotel on CALIS beach. The sea-facing rooms were wonderfully peaceful, and breakfast by the water was very pleasant, with a good three-star-level selection. The location is excellent, and both the manager and staff were kind, friendly and knowledgeable. I’d recommend the hotel to travelers.

The staff were friendly, and the hotel is on the beach, but there are several things that need work. We stayed one night mainly because we understood that parking was on-site and breakfast was included. There’s no designated lot, just street parking, and the hotel was still under construction. The bathroom design is a disaster: the floor gets slippery, water goes everywhere when you shower, and the sink is so tiny that you hit your head on the shelf while brushing your teeth or washing your face. There’s no ramp for luggage, so you have to carry it up stairs with no railings. There are a handful of safety hazards around the hotel, so be aware if you have small children.

For 15.00 US a night in winter, with a deck overlooking the beach and right by the water, this place is hard to beat. The man running it was pleasant, attentive, courteous and professional. He walked me to my room and called to wake me at 6am the next day, and he seemed to be running the whole place by himself. The woman I met cleaning rooms in the hallway was very nice. The bedroom was mostly clean, though the area under the bed could use attention, maybe it’s never been cleaned. A little more effort there and the place would be awesome. The place is fine, whatever the negative reviews say.
