Dove Apart Hotel

Mert at the front desk was a big help. He talked us through car rental choices and made calls to check that vehicles were available. The breakfast was incredible, and the location is great. Our room was clean and bright, the hot water and pressure were good, and we liked having a little balcony. One of the three beds was missing its sheets and small red cover for some reason, but it wasn't a big deal. The common areas have a relaxed feel, and there were friendly people around.

I booked what was listed on Hostelworld as a dormitory, based on the photos, but was given a cramped two-bed hotel room to share with a man who seemed to have some form of mental illness and to be living there semi-permanently. When I arrived, he was using my bed to store his things. It was a hot spring day, but the windows were shut and the heating was blasting at 28 degrees. He'd covered all the power cables in aluminium foil to protect against the electromagnetic field. He stayed awake all night, shuddering violently, then got up early and seemed to rearrange his belongings and check that all the empty drawers and cupboards still worked. I understand a hotel can't control its guests, but a hostel advertising dorm beds needs some kind of quality control so one guest's situation doesn't affect other people's stay. A room that small isn't healthy for two people and doesn't make it a dormitory. During my stay, I wanted to be anywhere but in that room.

The hotel was a letdown. Breakfast was decent, parking was easy, and the location was good, but that's about where the positives end. The building and its contents are old, broken, and in poor condition, with no sound insulation. We could hear the next room and the outside AC. That unit was especially irritating, switching on and off every two minutes, and we couldn't get the room comfortably warm. Even at a fairly good price, I don't think it's worth it. It feels overrated.

The location is convenient, around a 7-10 minute walk from the beach and local amenities, and I liked the pool area. Breakfast was okay, though there wasn't much for vegans or people with dietary restrictions. I can't have milk, and the only choices were regular milk and butter. The apartment was spacious, but not very clean. The bathroom was clean, while the kitchen had food left on the hob, stains on the walls, and dirty utensils. I didn't use any of it. The walls were so thin that I could hear other guests, including taps running, toilets flushing, and people moving in bed, which made it hard to relax. The balcony door had no lock and could be opened from outside, which made me concerned about security. There was also no clothes rack for drying things. We arrived late at night and weren't given a welcome bottle of water. Everything was very expensive for what it was, and the hotel felt extremely overpriced. It has potential because of its location, but the cleanliness, missing basics, noise, and safety concern made the stay unpleasant. I didn't enjoy it and wouldn't recommend it at the price.
