We booked online for two nights, and the trouble started when we arrived with our two children. They said we’d chosen twin beds. We thought we might have made a mistake, but checked the system and saw we’d selected a double. The receptionist offered to push the beds together and said they’d arrange a child’s bed. When I asked whether the joined beds would be comfortable, he said it would be fine. The child’s bed turned out to be a folding mattress laid straight on the floor, low enough that your feet touched the ground. As for the two beds pushed together, we spent the night trying to stay upright so we wouldn’t fall into the gap with the kids. The air conditioning barely cooled the room, and breakfast was just enough to stop us going hungry. We weren’t expecting five-star comfort, but this didn’t feel like a simple little guesthouse on a side street either.
