Gocek Lykia Resort Hotel

The pool area, masseuse, and manager are great, but we didn’t have a good stay. This isn’t a 4-star hotel. It feels cheaply built, and the staff are incompetent. Our room was okay, but getting into the high bathtub was awkward, and I don’t know why they put in a tub instead of a shower in such a hot climate. The tub area is falling apart. The door keys and air-conditioning remote kept having problems, and neither staff nor technical staff could fix them. The manager eventually had to sort them out himself. The hotel has plush carpet to reduce the noise from flight attendants’ high heels, since they have a deal with Pegasus, but you can still hear them walking. The restaurant buffet and service are below par and inconsistent. There should be a better hotel in the area.

The only drawback was that there’s no elevator, but I’d still go back. The hotel is about a 15-minute walk from the beach, or you can bike there. We stayed as part of a tour and had complimentary drinks in the room. The food was delicious, and the staff were very helpful. We had an early paragliding trip and needed to leave at 5:30. Our guide asked for sandwiches, but the hotel had a full breakfast ready when we got up, which was really nice. The design was lovely, especially the lobby and the area around the pool.

We were meant to fly from Washington DC to Istanbul with Turkish Airlines, but bad weather stopped us landing at Istanbul Airport, so we were taken to Dalaman Airport. Turkish Airlines arranged two nights at this hotel. They said they were usually closed in the off-season, but opened up for us. Even with very little time to get things ready, they did a great job. The food was amazing, the staff were friendly, and everything was clean.

Our room was changed at the last minute, and we ended up with a huge family room. The hotel is quite large, with a nice reception, lobby bar, and pool. They were well prepared during COVID-19, and we had no issues with masks or disinfection. The room was clean, and room service worked well. Breakfast could have been better, though I guess that was down to COVID-19, since we had the same problem even at 5-star hotels in Istanbul.
