I’d think twice before booking or sending a deposit. I reserved a room for four, including an infant and a child, for August 19-21, 2024, just two days before our planned trip to Gokceada. It was a last-minute decision because we thought it would be a lovely experience. Then my infant and I became ill, and my child had a high fever. I explained to the hotel that I live abroad and had limited time in Turkey. Staff first told me the deposit would be refunded the next day, but later messaged that they would keep it and let me use it by the end of the season in September. I contacted them again to say I wouldn’t be in Turkey and couldn’t use it by September 2024. Given our illness, traveling and possibly infecting others would have been irresponsible. They said the manager had to decide and wouldn’t be available until after 6 PM. The $100 deposit may not seem like much, but it felt as if keeping the money mattered more than guests’ well-being. I also felt there was little compassion for a family with sick children. As I write this, my other child has a fever too. I wouldn’t recommend booking here because of this inflexibility.

We spent a lot of time unwinding by the pool, which was very comfortable, and had a delicious meal at the hotel restaurant, with local and international dishes. The staff were welcoming from the moment we arrived, always ready to answer questions or suggest things to do. Our room was spacious and nicely decorated, with a comfortable king-sized bed and a stunning view. It had the mini-fridge, coffee maker, flat-screen TV, and other things we needed. The hotel is in a prime spot, within walking distance of restaurants, shops, museums, and other nearby attractions. We felt the price was worth it for the luxury and service. We came to Agios Hotel for a relaxing weekend getaway with my partner and had a wonderful stay. I’d recommend it to anyone after a luxurious, relaxing time in the heart of the city. The family put so much care into making our stay memorable. Their three boys and young girl were keen to help with our heritage research, and the kids took great joy in showing us around the island. Toula, the manager, greeted us with a welcoming smile when we arrived exhausted after a difficult trip. I explained why we had come to Turkey, and she, the hotel owner, and the rest of his family were eager to assist. The hotel faces the mountains and is very close to the town centre. It has tasteful decor, a swimming pool, and a well-kept garden; our room was clean, and breakfast, lunch, and dinner were available on request. We came to research my heritage and stayed at Agios hotel in Gokceada for the whole visit. We highly recommend it for its amenities and for making our time in Gokceada so memorable.
