Ottoman Cave Suites

We were a group of four female adults, including two senior citizens, and a 10-year-old child, staying in Cappadocia for three nights. Staff gave us a warm welcome and were helpful in arranging tours for the next couple of days, but the stay soon became disappointing. While talking with other travelers, we learned that the tours booked through the hotel had cost us noticeably more than the same day trip cost others. After a firm, uncomfortable discussion, staff agreed to change the price to what seemed to be the original rate. We felt misled and taken advantage of. My sister also took a locally arranged yellow cab to an underground city about 30 minutes away and was charged 4000 lira for the round trip. We understand the usual fare is around 1500-2000 lira, so this seemed excessive and unreasonable. Checkout was another low point. We left at 6:45 am with senior citizens and luggage, but reception staff made no effort to help. They stood smoking and watched us struggle. That showed a lack of professionalism, empathy, and basic courtesy. The initial welcome was pleasant, but the tour overcharging and poor checkout service left us feeling the hotel lacked integrity and hospitality. We won’t recommend it and will tell our travel agent to avoid booking future guests here.

The staff were indifferent, unhelpful, and unprofessional, and the breakfast was very poor, far below an acceptable standard. There was no room service, which made the stay inconvenient, and no proper way to order drinking water, a basic necessity. No one was available to help with our luggage when we arrived, setting the tone for a thoroughly disappointing stay. The property fell short on every level of service. I regret choosing it and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone expecting even basic hospitality.

The pricing was quite reasonable, and they can also arrange tours without overcharging. The rooms were unusual, especially the round bed, which I loved. Breakfast had lots of variety. Fatima and Mustafa always served us with big smiles, and the reception team were friendly and accommodating. Excellent service.

Breakfast is served on the rooftop from 8-10:30, which works well if you’re up for a dawn hot air balloon ride. The views up there are spectacular. It’s a great little hotel, and the staff will do anything for you. Ayse and Mustsfa looked after us so well at breakfast.
