Adamel City Hotel

The place looked more like an abandoned apartment building than a hotel. Used mattresses were stacked on every floor. In the first room they showed us, there were hairs on the bed, used undershirts lying around, and half-empty water bottles. They had made the bed and were showing it to the next customer. The replacement room was just as bad, with blood on the sheets and pillowcases and an uncleaned bathroom. They’d made the bed and pretended they had cleaned it. Honestly, I wouldn’t complain about the hotel itself if some customers accept this kind of service. The reviews make that clear. What was strangest was that another reservation we had through ETS Tur got cancelled and we were redirected to this bizarre place. Because of ETS Tur's complete lack of professionalism, we ended up having to stay one night in this ridiculous place. We left early the next day without even cancelling. That’s the service we got.

The window handle in our room was broken, and so was the hair dryer. On the positive side, it’s centrally located, has a standard buffet breakfast, and the staff are friendly. I highly recommend it for cleanliness.

The room was so dark that the lighting barely beat a night-light, and the ventilation and air conditioning only made noise without working. Dust covered the furniture, while the sheets looked clean on the outside but made me feel sick when I checked inside. There was also a dusty, stained floor lamp that didn’t work. The room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, and the furniture looked like it belonged in a coffee shop. Opening the window brought in so much street noise that sleeping was impossible. Room 302 alone is reason enough, in my view, to revoke the hotel’s license. Reception did welcome me warmly, and I can understand putting up with some things for the price, but old and neglected are two different things. This was the worst hotel stay I’ve ever had. I absolutely wouldn’t recommend it; no one with self-respect would stay here.

The staff were very attentive, and I was especially grateful for Mr. Sezer’s care. The place was clean and hygienic too, which I appreciated. I came to Istanbul for two days and chose this hotel by chance. I was really pleased. Thank you, and see you soon.
