Days Hotel by Wyndham Istanbul Maltepe

The first room smelled like an ashtray, apparently because some guests don’t follow the restrictions. They offered another room right away. It was a bit smaller, but workable. I was happy with the bar staff’s service as well as reception, thanks to everyone. The hotel was clean and quiet, with friendly, helpful staff and a good location. It’s a 2-3 min walk from Gülsuyu m.station, exit2.

The service was excellent, and the place felt clean, modern, and cosy. I was very happy with my stay.

The neighborhood felt a bit sketchy, but the hotel itself was very clean. There’s free parking and both AC and DC EV charging, and the staff were attentive and helpful.

I paid 180 euros for two nights without breakfast and got the smallest room I’ve ever stayed in. When I complained, they said it was the category I’d booked, and later replaced it with a better room, though the bad feeling stayed with me. The interior design is actually very nice, but I didn’t try the food because it seemed overpriced. Since I visited in winter and there were very few guests, I also couldn’t feel sure about its freshness or quality. Each time I left and came back, the restaurant manager gave me strange looks. At 90 euros a night in winter, with no nearby attractions, the hotel felt like a rip-off. It’s another in a run of bad hotel experiences I’ve had in Istanbul. I’d been reading the earlier reviews and couldn’t help laughing. Either Expedia gave me an incredible deal, or those five-star reviews are completely fake!
