We were impressed with Hotel Erboy in Sultanamet, so Es Moda was a terrible disappointment. We booked a suite with a sea view but didn't get the room we reserved until the third day, at 13.00. By then we had been moved twice and had to unpack all over again. The first room was so small we couldn't open a suitcase, and the next was bigger, but the bathroom was very dark and the hand sprayer had been removed, leaving an opening. The first two rooms were also very noisy because a car cleaner kept using a pressure hose. The day before we arrived, the owners texted to say the credit card details we'd provided through booking.com were faulty and that we had to pay cash. We didn't find that trustworthy. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Our room with a terrace was just right, and everything was neat and clean. The staff were really nice, and we'll miss the hotel's littlest member, Lucky the Pomeranian. Breakfast wasn't included in our package, but they kindly gave us an excellent homemade Turkish breakfast for free. An excellent experience overall.

The breakfast area looked terribly dirty and unhygienic, so I never ate there even though breakfast was included in the price. My room, number 3, was right beside reception. I could hear the phone ringing and people talking all night through the old room door. The receptionist slept on the sofa in reception, just two meters from the ground-floor rooms, which made the setup feel super awkward too. After the first night, they flat-out refused to refund the rest of my stay, so I had to move to friends'. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone unless they're paying for the much more expensive upper floors. For that money, there are better quality alternatives around Kadıköy.
