Galata Inn Hotel

I was happy with the location and room. Galata Tower, shops, restaurants, and public transport are all close by, making it a handy base for seeing Istanbul. The room was small but clean and had a TV and the basics I needed. The laundry charge, though, left me feeling misled. I asked whether they could wash my clothes, and a staff member quoted 150 TL after seeing my two small bags of ordinary casual things, like T-shirts and underwear. He agreed to take them, but didn’t say it was dry cleaning or that the fee was per item. Later I learned they had been dry cleaned, and I was charged 2550 TL for 17 pieces. I hadn’t clearly agreed to that service or price. I only wanted a basic wash-and-fold, and if I’d wanted dry cleaning, I wouldn’t have booked a budget hotel. I left frustrated and unhappy. If you use any extra services here, make sure the details are clearly explained or written down so you don’t get caught off guard.

The room was clean and just right for two people who mainly needed somewhere to sleep. It wasn’t big, but in Istanbul I don’t think you need a special hotel for that, just a cozy, clean place, and this worked for me. The owners are a father and son, and they were genuinely helpful. The location was perfect, near Galataport, with a tram and bus two minutes away and plenty of taxis passing by. I spent five months as an exchange student in Istanbul, so I feel I know the city from the inside out. I’ll definitely return, probably soon this year.

I made the most of the central location and walked out for dinner and drinks. The staff were incredibly helpful, and the amenities were great. My room was comfortable and clean, and the bed was really comfy. I had a great time at the Galata Inn and will stay there again when I’m back.

The owner made me feel welcome, and the place was clean. I’ll definitely come back. Great location too.
