Golden Door is right in the middle of Taksim, close to everything, but tucked onto a quiet and peaceful street. The rooms are spacious, clean, and come with a kitchenette. Kemal and his family made wonderful hosts. Thanks, Kemal, we’re looking forward to seeing you again on our next visit!

A quiet place with a good spirit, and I liked that. It’s a lovely family run hotel in a great location. The rooms are big, roomy, and clean, though a bit old and dated, much like me.

We had a great time and would definitely recommend it to friends and family. Just be aware there’s no elevator, only stairs, so it isn’t suitable for disabled guests. Apart from that, excellent.

We got to Istanbul early in the morning and found the place completely unacceptable for the price. The stairs were very narrow, there was no elevator or restaurant, and the room and sheets were dirty. We’d requested an extra bed and sheets for my son, but they were torn and stained. The building was very old. We cancelled right away and booked a four-star hotel for the same amount. Please be careful with your reservation, and don’t choose based only on the pictures online.

The room was clean and roomy, and the staff were helpful. It’s a great location, though if you’re a light sleeper, bring earplugs. Nightlife and the muezzin call at night may keep you up.
