Lionel Hotel Istanbul

The only real drawback for me was the setting. Lionel Hotel Istanbul is in an industrial area, surrounded by workshops and factories, which may not suit everyone. Inside, everything was wonderful. I stayed three nights and found the hotel exceptionally clean and well maintained, with remarkably friendly and professional staff. I also really enjoyed the spa, sauna, and swimming pool, and all the services were top-notch. If the industrial surroundings don't bother you, it's a great place to stay.

The staff and breakfast were the best parts, but I found the hotel overrated and it didn't match the photos online. The location feels industrial, with nothing interesting nearby, and at night it didn't feel very safe. Cleanliness was average, and there may be a cigarette smell in the corridor before you reach your room. The pool and sauna are small and very ordinary. Local club members use them too, so they don't feel like hotel-only facilities.

Hamza, the doorman, made me feel welcome as soon as I arrived at Lionel Hotel Istanbul. He was warm and kind, greeting me with a smile and offering help before I even asked. His professionalism and care made me feel valued, and the service he gave me made my first visit memorable. He really embodies hospitality, and he's a credit to Lionel Hotel. I hope management recognizes the outstanding work he does. Thanks, Hamza, for the 5+ star welcome. I'll be back. The Restaurant, Housekeeping, and Reception staff also deserve credit for their wonderful care and hospitality.

The location was fine, the orange juice was nice, room service was great, and the hotel staff were very helpful. The restaurant food was average, with a limited selection, and breakfast cost more than I realized when it wasn't included in my package. The Hamam experience is what made this a two-star review. I was left in the room with no one coming to see me, and I went out three times. The spa receptionist first said I hadn't asked about the hamam, which wasn't true, then changed her story and said I'd asked for a massage, also untrue. Being made to feel like a liar was upsetting and insulting, and I'd never experienced that before. I complained to the hotel's front services, and they tried to help. I can't fault them. But I was shocked by how rude the brown-haired hamam woman at spa reception was. No one likes being accused of lying. I booked this hotel expecting a hamam, and now regret choosing it.
