Moda Drei - Concept Hostel

The hostel has a relaxed vibe, the staff seem decent, and it’s a good deal for the price. The beds are clean and really nice, with curtains for privacy. The bathroom, shower, and shared kitchen are quite good and always well maintained. I’d recommend it if you’re staying around Kadikoy. There isn’t much room for belongings, with no chairs or anything besides the beds. Also, I’m pretty sure the heater made the room I was in a little too hot for sleeping. I liked the area much better than the European area.

I liked the neighborhood and the location, with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. The staff were friendly, and they even refunded the prepaid nights I didn’t use. But cleanliness was a problem: my room floor felt sticky, the bathroom smelled of pee, probably because it hadn’t been washed, and the kitchen and shared fridge were really smelly.

I loved the place and would definitely stay again when I’m back in Istanbul. Moda has a young, fun feel, with cafes and bars less than five minutes away, and the metro and ferry are about a 10-15 minute walk. Inside, it’s modern, well kept, and very clean. The big dorm rooms have bed curtains for some privacy even with 7-9 people in the room. Lockers use digital PINs, so there’s no need to bring a padlock, and they fit a large backpack or suitcase. The cute cats around the hostel made the stay feel even more welcoming.

There are lots of cats around the hostel all the time. They’re friendly and clean, though anyone with allergies might want to think twice. I really liked the social atmosphere and good vibes, and the volunteers were helpful with recommendations. Special thanks to the Greek girl. The hostel is also well placed, close to the main street in Kadikoy.
