Ottopera Hotel

It's a clean, spacious room in a nice, safe spot very close to Takism Square, with plenty of places to eat and shop nearby. Room service can bring things right to your door. The area is loud, though, and there's no air conditioning, so be prepared for that. Also, there are stairs and no elevator.

The staff are kind, and they upgraded me from a single to a double room for free. It was a little noisy, but that's something I could put up with for the price.

The room itself had no water and wasn’t cleaned, and the staff offered no real help. We arrived late, my sister and I, and were put on a basement floor. I’m claustrophobic, so I asked to move and explained why. They wanted another €10. We were willing to accept and tried to explain the situation, but they wouldn’t make an exception. The receptionist then offered a single room, which I accepted, but moving there meant paying for that night too, even though I’d paid for five nights in a double room. I ended up paying for two rooms and using only one. 😳 On the last day I left some things at reception. I politely asked if they could send them to me by taxi and said I’d cover the cost, but they said they couldn’t provide that service. Even the station manager at the airport spoke to them in Turkish to ask for help, and they still wouldn’t help. In the end, I asked the taxi driver who took me to the airport to collect the things. VERRY VERRY BAD HOTEL. Be careful.

We stayed three nights. We’d booked a basement room, but the manager gave us a first-floor room as a gift, which made us happy. The staff were friendly, and the room was clean. Tea and coffee weren’t charged for either. For the price, it was well worth it. If we come to Istanbul again, we’ll stay here.
