Sun Suites

The staff were so kind and polite, and the hotel was cleaner than I expected. I booked through Booking.com and have always had good experiences there, but this stay still managed to exceed my expectations. It’s become my favorite place to stay in Istanbul.

Suites were excellent at communicating, and the team was always glad to help. The room itself was spacious and comfortable, though quite dark, so adding a light or two would help. There were also mosquitoes, stains on the couch and dark water marks in the shower. Outside noise at night could be noticeable.

The room was bigger than a standard hotel room, and it’s within a reasonable walk of most places in Moda. The price seemed okay at first, though I think there are nicer, cheaper rooms nearby with better service. It wasn’t a quiet stay. Men gathered noisily outside early in the morning, people were recycling loudly in the alley late at night, and mosquitoes kept buzzing around even with every window closed. The back wall sits at an odd angle, so the furniture does too, which threw off the look of the room. I stayed for 5 days and was never offered breakfast. They didn’t replenish the water, tea, or coffee, and housekeeping was offered only once by phone. I thought I’d booked a non-smoking room, but smoke from other rooms came through the bathroom vent and made my things smell like cigarettes. Staff also smoked in the “lounge,” which was just a plain room with a podium for the check-in desk. The shower was extremely small. The stairwell was narrow, with tiny steps, so bringing up a large suitcase was difficult.

The rooms are roomy and comfortable, and the hotel is centrally located with easy access to all kinds of transport. A very nice place to stay in Istanbul, I’d recommend it.
