A comfortable, dependable stay, and the location worked well for business. The rooms were decent, with a few small things that could be improved. Service was good and the staff were friendly.

There’s a lot to like here, especially the setting by the coast, the food and the sea access. We ate lunch, burger and chips, and dinner, both good. A large Efes beer was about €5, much like elsewhere. There are three pools, one saltwater, and they were good, though hardly anyone seemed to use them. You can also swim in the sea and get waiter service at your lounger. The room had a minibar, which I used for my own drinks, but no cooking appliances. The nearest shop is up that very steep hill. They can arrange tours, including boat trips, and reception can call a taxi, 220 TL into Kalkan. We checked out at noon but weren’t collected until 4. They kept our bags in the office and let us shower and change at the Turkish baths, so we were fresh for the journey. At checkout they mistakenly tried to charge us for two cocktails we hadn’t had, then apologised with two drinks on the house once they spotted the error. There was also a friendly local cat with a broken paw sleeping on our balcony sofa. They said a vet had examined it, and the cat seemed happy. Room 202 was in the annexe, modern, with a huge two-level balcony and decent sea views. The cushions were dirty, the floors hadn’t been swept, and I nearly stood on two rusty nails. The room floor could have been cleaner too, perhaps because it was being used for the first time that season. We booked this spot in Kalamar Bay outside Kalkan. It’s built on a hillside, so expect plenty of steps, and the walk into Kalkan takes about half an hour at a slow pace in the heat. Leaving the hotel, you face what I called cardiac Hill, or the beer thirst builder, and you’ll want a cold drink after it. Still, the views and coastal dining are lovely. Book with confidence if you’re ready for the steps and hills. I’d also highly recommend a boat trip to Meis (kastellorizo) and a day trip to Salikent gorge.

We had such a nice stay at Kulube hotel. It was peaceful, beautiful and clean, with wonderfully clear water. The staff were friendly too. What more could we ask for? Thanks for having us.

The sea was my favourite part. We could lounge on the sunbeds, climb straight down into the blue water, and skip the sand and fuss. There were plenty of beds, so no need to save one. The pools were lovely and clean too, two regular ones plus private infinity pools for some rooms. Our spacious room had a full sea view and was cleaned daily. A larger fridge, or one without minibar items taking up space, would have helped. Breakfast was really good for a hotel this size, with omelettes, salads, jams, fruit and boiled eggs. The pool bar felt too expensive to me. Some of the food was good, but I had a poor meal too, and bottled beer was £5. You can walk to town in about 25 minutes, but the first hill is very steep. If you’re unfit or very young or old, a taxi may suit you better. It was 170 lira, about £4 each way. A couple of things could be better, but for what we paid, we were very happy and would go again.
